[...] I do not indulge in the Indian national religion of a sport: Cricket. I renounced it when I was in 9th grade, deeming it unworthy of 9 hours of my day. [...]

I would not call it a full circle as I firmly believe cricket is not the same as it was before. For bad or for good is for over the hill critics to ponder on and get paid to spill ink and generate satellite TV frames.

Entertainment as an activity needs the entertainer and entertained. There has to be a stage. English cricket of yonder age was a leisure something which only a certain class of Brits could afford. Who can bat for 5 days continuously with not guarantee of result only a person with no urgent business to look after in the office!!

As for cricket based nationalism, I totally approve, it does strange thing to ordinary people. There are innumerable accounts of people telling of a certain 'mohalla' in their town which indulges in firecrackers if Pakistan beats India.

Circa 2008. I feel with IPL, T20 and Indian hunger for Masala will turn cricket into a reality TV thingy. Harbhajan slapping, coach clapping, SRK being clipped, Charu slipping. It is hell of a potboiler cricket, controversies, celebrities.

These SET MAX people are sucker in their presentation. They have hired all these blabbering yuppies who do not even know what they are talking. Like after 1st inning batting got butchered the host exclaimed to the cricket expert "It has been a debauchery!". I do not require cricket expertise from them but they act as if on a fancy expressions competition and are underwear pals with cricketing giants they talk with. Why the eff, do they have Lekha Washington on field with Jadega flirting her from studios!!
